About Us


BAT offers a 2 year training course in Adlerian Counselling Skills & Practice, with the opportunity to convert this into either a Diploma in Adlerian Counselling Skills & Practice or a Diploma in Adlerian Practitionership. The weekly evening tutorials are held in Aylesbury and the weekend workshops in Buckingham. Training is predominantly experiential, and tutorial groups are small. There is a high level of tutor support in each year group.


Jill Reynolds Jill Reynolds, BSc. IIP Dip. IIP accredited, IIP Supervisor, is currently the fourth year tutor on the Bucks Adlerian Counselling & Practitioner Training in Aylesbury.

She did her Adlerian counselling training between 1995 and 1999, and her tutor apprenticeship between 2000 and 2001, alongside completing a Psychology degree with the Open University.

She was awarded the ASIIP Diploma in 2006, the ASIIP Certificate in Adlerian Supervision in 2007, and in that same year, became an Accredited Adlerian Counsellor.

She has worked with 13-19 year olds for Connexions for the past 5 years, and also sees young people and families in her private practice.

Jill lives in Water Stratford, North Bucks, and works in Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire


Bruce Greenhalgh Bruce Greenhalgh, Adler Dip. MA Couns. FCIPD, BACP accred.

Bruce has worked in a professional capacity in the Employee Assistance field since 1984 and currently is Head of Employee Assistance for a large consultancy firm managing employee assistance programmes for corporate clients.

He has an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Regents College and is an Accredited Counsellor with BACP.

He has a Diploma in Adlerian Counselling and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Bruce is a first year tutor on the Bucks Adlerian Training course, and heads up the young people’s programme at the Adlerian annual Summer School.

He has worked with teenagers in various capacities over 25 years.


Marian Millward

Marian has worked for Social Services for over 26 years as a Social Worker in a variety of settings. She is currently in the Safe Guarding Division. Marian achieved a Diploma in Adlerian Counselling in 1999 and started tutoring in 2000. Since becoming involved with the Adlerian philosophy and practice, Marian has successfully integrated this and continues to be an Adlerian Practitioner.


Hugh Ainsley

Hugh first encountered Adlerian philosophy some 20 years ago and trained as an Adlerian Practitioner under Dr Lilian Beattie and Sheila Fairbrother, completing the course in 1994. He was a junior assistant to Dr Beattie before teaming up with Marian Milward in 2000 to tutor first and second year students. Married to another Adlerian trained practitioner, the Adlerian philosophical approach has been applied both in the family setting, to sports coaching at an advanced level and in his every day work as an IT Consultant. His particular interests lie in the creative approaches to counselling practice and the application of Adlerian philosophy in the every-day world.
